Solar Warranty Tracker
See what is still under warranty, when each warranty ends and which ones end within a year.
A solar system has several warranties, and they don’t end on the same day. The panels may be covered for 25 years, the inverter for 10 and the installer’s work for 5. The paperwork for each sits in a different folder, and nobody remembers the dates until something breaks.
This tracker is for homeowners, installers and anyone who looks after a system. List each warranty with its start date and length in years. You get end dates, the time left, and a flag on the ones that end within a year. Download it as a PDF for your records, or to hand to the owner. Nothing is uploaded, and there’s no account.

End dates come from the dates and lengths you type in. Read the exact terms in your own warranty documents. Data as of October 2026.
How this tool works
How the dates are worked out
Each end date is the start date plus the length in years. A line with no start date of its own uses the install date. Half years work, so 4.5 years is 54 months. The time left is counted from the report date, which is today unless you set another. A warranty that ends within 365 days is flagged. The list shows the soonest end first, then the warranties that have already ended.
What lengths to expect
EnergySage reports panel product warranties of 10 to 25 years and power-output warranties of 25 to 30. Inverter warranties run 10 years for string inverters and 25 for microinverters, and installer workmanship warranties 10 to 25 years. Makers and installers differ, so use the numbers on your own paperwork. The product warranty covers defects. The output warranty promises that the panel still makes a set share of its rated power after a number of years.
Tip: type in the serial numbers while you’re at it. A claim usually needs the serial number and the install date, and the field is there for that.
The Solar Maintenance Scheduler gives the system a yearly service plan, which helps keep warranties valid.
What it doesn’t do
- It doesn’t know your warranty’s terms. It can’t tell what a warranty covers, whether it transfers to a new owner, or what you must do to keep it valid.
- It doesn’t send alerts. The flag shows when you open the tool, and the PDF lists what ends within a year.
- It doesn’t look up makers. Every date and length is what you type.
Where the numbers come from
- Warranty coverage, EnergySage. The typical lengths of product, performance, inverter and installation warranties.
- Every start date and length in your report is what you enter. The example behind the Fill in an example button is made up.
Questions
Do solar warranties start on the install date or the purchase date?
It depends on the maker and the paperwork. Many start at installation or when the system is switched on, and some at purchase or shipment. Check the document, and use the Starts column when the date differs from the install date.
What’s the difference between a product warranty and a performance warranty?
The product warranty covers defects in the panel. The performance, or power-output, warranty promises the panel will still produce a set share of its rated power after a number of years. They’re separate lines in the tracker.
Who gives the workmanship warranty?
The installer. EnergySage says it’s provided by your installation company and covers the work on your roof or property. It’s only as good as the company behind it, so keep the contact details with the dates.
Does a warranty pass to the next owner when I sell?
Often, but not always, and some need a form or a fee. Check each document. The tracker doesn’t hold those rules.
Will it remind me when a warranty is about to end?
No. It doesn’t send emails or alerts. The flag shows when you open it, and the PDF lists what ends within a year.
Why does a line say to add a start date and length?
The tool needs both to work out an end date. Give the line a length in years, and either a start date or an install date at the top.
Are my entries saved?
